Unsere nepalesischen Partnerorganisationen berichten uns täglich von den seit Tagen anhaltenden Unruhen und Streiks, die das öffentliche Leben im Land lahmlegen. Beispielhaft möchten wir Euch an dieser Stelle eine Nachricht von unserem Partner Sana Hastakala übermitteln:
Dear friends,
daily life in Nepal has been almost stoped for past six days because of the indefinite strike called by Nepal United Maoist party. They are demanding the resignation of present prime minister and want to form their own government through street protest and show of strength. The present prime minister denies to resign. All the shops, transport, offices, banks have been closed for past six days. In this fight for power innocent people are the victims. There is shortage of daily necessities including food. People can not go for work and earn. Sick people are unable to go to hospital. Students are deprived of education. There are scattered incidents of class and confrontation.People are under big stress. We do not see the solution. This way the Nepalese economy will collapase very soon. The dirty politics and fight for power is ruining the country. The Nepal is heading towards grave situation.
Because of these adverse situation, our work also been badly affected. There will be delays in shipments. We have not been able to answer your e-mails and queries in time. Our planned programs for 8th May, comming Saturday to celeberate World Fair Trade Day has to be postponed. We hope you will understand the situation and will be with us in this difficult time.
