EL PUENTE The Bridge
EL PUENTE is an equitable trade organization. Like a "bridge" (that is what the English translation of the Spanish name means) between North and South, EL PUENTE intents to help to reduce the gap between the rich countries and the so-called developing countries.
EL PUENTE supports and promotes small enterprises and co-operatives in Africa, Asia and Latin America by importing and marketing their products in the Federal Republic of Germany. The direct co-operation with projects in these continents offers fair conditions to our partners and thus gives them the opportunity to stand their ground on the international market. This enables them to improve the perspective of their living conditions.
In addition to the commercial activities, EL PUENTE is engaged in giving information and education in the field of development policy. The object is to use the products as an example to make evident the structures of world-wide economic injustice and to promote cultural exchange. The confrontation with other cultures, ways of life and values shall give impulses to remember our role as citizens of one world - a world, in which our affluence is due to the poverty of the so-called developing countries.
